Mount Up

Now to make some mounts. We decided early on that because some of the bike engine mounts are on the head we would mount it to the chassis rails.

We had planned to use some suspension links and bushes as mounts but found they pushed the engine too far forward, so a rethink was needed. We decided to go with a plate that goes down to a bush on the chassis rail so is nice and compact at the rear of the engine.

Being a draftsman and pretty handy with CAD I  decided to get all the mounts and brackets laser cut from mild steel at Hi-Tech metals. You can make any shape you need and the cost is better than trying to do it any other way.

We took measurements as accurately as we could and then drew up the shapes in CAD. Then print them off to scale to see if they would  work in real life. They are only paper but are good enough. Once we were happy with the part we cut it out of cardboard to make sure it would work. Then send the files of to be cut.
